How Does Your Radiator Work?

The purpose of your radiator is to prevent the engine from overheating. Through a series of tubes, a coolant passes through the engine and picks up heat. The coolant then travels to the radiator to cool off again. When you notice the temperature gauge on your dashboard is running too high, take your vehicle to the shop right away. A problem with the radiator could stem from age. As this cooling process takes place, mineral deposits are left behind that could cause the tubes to be blocked which builds up pressure and could damage the hoses, water, pump, and thermostat.

Water Pump Service: The water pump keeps the coolant circulating throughout the cooling system. This is done by the drive belt or timing belt.

Thermostats: The thermostat keeps the overall temperature of the engine running at the correct level.

Cylinder Head Gasket & Cylinder Head Service: We will ensure that coolant hasn’t leaked into the gasket or cylinder and mixed with the engine oil.

Cooling System Flush: If there are blockages within the cooling system, our European car repair shop can perform a system flush to loosen the blockage.

Coolant Exchange Service: Changing the cooling system fluids can prevent serious damage to your car.

Electrical Fan & Motor Assemblies: We will diagnose any issues with the electrical fan to ensure the cooling system is working properly.

Cooling System Re-Hose Service: The hoses should be sturdy and flexible in order to handle the heat of the engine. We can replace the hoses as needed.

Electrical Repairs to Dashboard Monitoring Lights & Gauges: So you can be confident knowing that your engine is running at the right temperature.

If you have ever seen a car on the side of the road with smoke spewing from the hood, it could mean that the engine has overheated. To avoid this happening to you, make sure you are keeping an eye on the temperature gauge in your car. When the cooling system isn’t working properly, it could have a serious impact on the health of your car. Schedule an appointment with Clarke’s European car repair shop today.
